We got married!

Hello all,

So as most of you will know, due to circumstances mostly beyond our control, we had to rather drastically revise our plans for our wedding day; both the ceremony and afterwards became much smaller affairs than we originally envisaged. Nevertheless, we had a truly memorable, simple, calm and intimate service at Chelsea Old Church; were able to spend some time with immediate family back at our hotel afterwards for a few hours (including cake cutting and champagne) and had a lovely dinner with our two transatlantic travellers later.

We also had the most perfect weather, after a dire early Spring in the UK, which was a lovely wedding present. We also had many, many strangers wishing us well, when we were out and about having photographs taken, when we were back at the hotel and when we were out eating (still both in our wedding finery, which turned a few heads). Thank you also to all the drivers who stopped to let us cross roads, which was very kind.

Although we would have loved to have seen more people, in many ways the day was exactly what we wanted, with a focus on the marriage and a degree of simplicity around this. Thank you to all of the people who came – particularly those who travelled, to all of the people who would have come under different circumstances and to all of your who have sent on your good wishes on-line or by cards. Thank you also for the kind gifts that people sent us. Although we had a very small service, we definitely felt that there were many other people thinking about us on the day, which meant a lot to us.

The “official” photos will be ready in two or three weeks time and will will definitely post some of these in the Photograph Album section.

Thank you all once more

On-street parking information

We have added a link to the park-up-com web site in the Travel Arrangements section. If you enter the relevant post code (SW3 5DQ), this site will provide a map of the locale annotated with where on-street parking bays are located. This is accompanied by a list of road names, including the hours of control and hourly fee.

As we mention on the page, we would not recommend placing reliance on finding a vacant parking space near to the Church on the day.

One pub and one coffee house / bakery in the vicinity

We have started to add some entries to our In the Vicinity section.

The first of these are The Pig’s Ear (a gastropub maybe two hundred yards from the Church) and Le Pain Quotidien (a chain of coffee shops / bakeries with a shop a little further away on The King’s Road). We have been to the latter when we arrived rather early for an appointment at the Church and the coffee was fine. We haven’t been to The Pig’s Ear, but will add some information if we pop in.

Welcome to our Wedding Site

Jennifer and I have put together this site to provide information about our forthcoming wedding.

The idea is to have somewhere that helps guests to plan things in advance, so that they can then relax and instead hopefully enjoy celebrating our special day.

We got engaged back on the 13th July 2012, which was our twelfth anniversary and the plan is to marry on Saturday 20th April 2013. You can get more information about the venue here.

As our arrangements evolve, we will add content here and use this blog section to provide the latest news. We will also post photographs here, both before and after the ceremony.

Thank you for taking the time to visit this site. We have tried to anticipate people’s needs, but if you have any ideas about other things that it would be useful to add, please just contact us.

We both look forward to seeing you in April, if not before.
